The kids were really into the election this year. First the school created "voter registration cards" for the children then held an election. I'm told that Barack Obama won the election held at their school. As we drove in this morning we listened to the radio and discussed why we were voting for our candidate. The responses were thoughtful and funny.

I took them with me and snapped a picture of them waiting in line. One of the volunteers offered to take a picture of us once we got up to the polls but we were told no pictures were allowed at that point. I let them make the choices, they pushed the buttons and felt really involved. We all got our "I Voted" sticker then headed to Starbucks to claim our free coffee!

I know this memory will stay with them a long time as they are now a part of the history we are about to witness!!

But the whole time I watched, she didn't go for it. I don't know if she was waiting for it to come to her, or if she didn't know how to get over to it. Or maybe she made her move much later.

I noticed this mantis in a bush some years ago, staring intently into the bush. Upon inspection I discovered the source of her interest was a Basilica spider wrapping up its lunch.

She definitely looks to be a different kind of mantis than yesterday's Chinese mantis.
